There are only 2 species of human beings - Fair skinned & Dark skinned!
Let me explain...
I was watching an old tamil movie today..a devotional one in which 3 godess (Lakshmi, Parvathi & Saraswathi) are fighting to prove that they are the best of the three.Parvathi-the godess of courage blesses a coward guy and with her blessings, this guy turns out to be a courageous man and finally ends up becoming the king of that kingdom. And at the end aal izzz wel...
But, the funniest part was...this guy was dark skinned till he was blessed by the godess...post that he turned out to be fair skinned and courageous...
No clue y the director thought that the guy should be fair skinned to be courageous!!!
The bias is not only in the movie...
Whichever matrimony ad i come across...always the bride should be fair...and i think thats not at all fair!!!
I never knew this unfair fair bias will affect even the new borns...Being a brand new mom, i experienced it recently...After the common question of is it a boy or girl...the next common question/comment will be related to the color...compare the baby with his mom's color, dad's color, grand parents color, cousins color, neighbours kids color....the list is never ending....
I think this world will be a better place...if people are not worried so much about skin color...after all what is there in a color maaamooo???
But...alas!!! That's an impossible dream!!!
That's y i am saying...
There are only 2 species of human beings...Fair skinned and Dark skinned :)
Very strong thoughts...and i agree with you hundred times...being dark tanned i have seen....infact we luv being racially discriminated...we differentiate people with color...call thm south indian..east indian...north indian...afro indian..american indian..and what all...We differentiate people with districts...home...state...color..creed...gender...office...profile...designation...grade...what all.. ..we struggle. .and work hard to prove others that they are different from us......

ReplyDeleteBrilliant....its both funny and poignant! And a fitting observation for today's racially discriminated world we seem to live in. Who was that hero by the way...? Rajinikanth without makeup and later with makeup?? - Ratzz :)
ReplyDeleteExcellent blog!! Food for thought! I think this was Saraswathi Sabatham - correct?? Entha channel?? Jaya TV?
ReplyDeleteI agree with your views absolutely. What's there in a color? Its a debatable topic. Theoretically, it is easy to say, one should not be carried away by color. When it comes to a practical situation, a fairer skin may get preference. Ultimately, it is one's merit, skill, knowledge and hardwork, which is going to take him or her to places. Beauty lies in the eyes of a beholder !
ReplyDeletenice thought but its very human to discremanate / differenciate so that we can prove ourselves superior then the other, if it would have not for colour it would have been for cast or gender or marks or number of girlfriends or salary package or size of balance sheet or number of cars u have or quantity of jewellery u have or number of bogs u have posted or number of comments u get on your blog....etc...etc....the end reasult is not colour but geting any parameter to prve once "SUPEARIORITY".....after all we are JUST HUMAN

ReplyDeleteHey veena Lakshmi here: nice topic very true and practical: but fact is that as per geologists the place people live decide their skin color --- how do you like that ?? :) well let me tell you one incident that happened to me a week before : we went to Hilton hotel in DC we were checking in - she ( receptionist) just gave us the key she dint give us any extra info. Considering the fact that Hilton has gym, spa etc... Which we were planning to go-- before even we could move from the counter another man came up and the receiptionist start explaining every single detail to him - he dint even ask... Now you can figure
ReplyDeletewhy ... God I got sooo pissed...
And did you notice, we use the same word to denote the color and correctness - FAIR!
